Botox relaxes certain muscles to smooth wrinkles caused by facial movement, for example forehead, frown lines, crows feet, bunny lines,  marionette lines, and chin dimpling. Botox can also be used for a brow lift,  gummy smile, jaw slimming , neck rejuvenation, migraine and hyperhydrosis treatment. 

Filler restores or adds volume/shape, enhances facial contours and smooths out lines caused by volume loss. Areas treated include lips, cheeks, chin, jawline, nasolabial folds (smile lines), marionette lines, undereyes, and temples. 

Most clients find very minimal discomfort. Botox may feel like a quick pinch, and for fillers we apply a prescription-strength numbing cream to prioritize your comfort. At Joy Medical Cosmetics, treatments are performed by our expert injector to ensure a gentle, comfortable experience.

In Ontario, only physicians, nurse practitioners, dentists, and *under medical delegation orders; registered nurses, registered practical nurses and respiratory therapists are legally authorized to administer cosmetic injections. Administering injectables is a controlled act, so these practitioners must have extensive knowledge, education and training in the science & art of aesthetic medicine to perform these procedures safely, effectively and legally.

Botox is a brand name for a type of neuromodulator, which is a purified protein called botulinum toxin type A. Naturally occurring in the environment, it has been safely used for both therapeutic medical and cosmetic purposes. Health Canada–approved neuromodulator brands include Botox, Nuceiva, Dysport, and Xeomin. Neuromodulators work by relaxing targeted muscles, preventing and smoothing out expression lines, to create a refreshed, youthful appearance.

• Avoid alcohol and other blood-thinners (like advil, aspirin, or fish oil supplements) for 24 hours prior, if possible.
• Plan to avoid strenuous workouts for 24 hours after treatment to support healing.
• Arrive with clean skin, free of makeup, if you can.

Botox results are NOT permanent. On average, they last 3–4 months, though this can vary. As muscle activity gradually returns, lines and movement reappear. Sticking to a consistent schedule for repeat treatments helps maintain the best results over time.

Yes! Botox works by softening specific muscle movements, but it will not completely erase your ability to express emotions. At Joy Medical Cosmetics, our skilled injector focuses on achieving natural-looking, balanced results that keep you looking like yourself, just refreshed.

• Stay upright for at least 4 hours after treatment.
• Avoid high heat (hot tubs, saunas, etc) for 24 hours.
• Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours.
• Avoid alcohol and blood-thinning medications/supplements (if possible) for 24 hours.
• You may take Tylenol if needed  
• No makeup application for 24 hours
• Results develop gradually, expect full effects to be visible within 14 days.

Filler is a smooth hyaluronic acid gel, which is a sugar molecule naturally found in the body that keeps skin hydrated. When injected, it restores lost volume (aging, weight loss, genetics), enhances contours, defines features, lifts, and smooths wrinkles, folds and hollowing. My favourite brand is Revanesse, a Health Canada approved filler proudly made in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada!

• Book appointment at least 2+ weeks before any travel, dental work, or immunizations.
• Arrive with clean skin, free of makeup if you can.
• Avoid alcohol & other blood thinners (like advil, aspirin or fish oil supplements) for 24 hours prior, if possible.
• Take arnica & eat/drink pineapple for 48 hours before to reduce risk of swelling & bruising (optional)

Most clients notice a visible improvement immediately after treatment. are typically seen within 2-4 weeks after treatment. Fillers can last up to 6-18+ months, depending on the area treated, the type of filler used, and your metabolism. Following a consistent treatment schedule as recommended by your injector can help to maintain your results.

No! Unlike traditional Botox injections, Microtox is placed very superficially into the skin, not into the deeper facial muscles. This means it won’t “freeze” your expressions. A Microtox Glass Facial is safe for all skin types and an excellent choice if you’re looking to achieve a radiant glow before an event or simply want healthier-looking skin. It’s especially beneficial for those with acne-prone skin, hyperpigmentation, enlarged pores, fine lines, or signs of aging. A Microtox Glass Facial is recommended every 1–2 months to maintain optimal results. There is little to no downtime. Some clients may notice mild redness or a light rosy glow for a few hours, which makes this treatment the perfect “pick-me-up” a few days before an event.

A chemical peel is a prescription-strength, medical-grade solution that exfoliates the skin for a brighter, smoother complexion. As healthcare professionals, we have access to high quality peels and have the expertise to provide them safely and effectively.

Benefits include: improving tone and texture, diminishing hyperpigmentation, reducing acne, softening fine lines for radiant, healthy skin.

After a chemical peel, you may experience redness for a few hours or a slight rosy glow for a day or so. You may experience some dryness, flakiness, or peeling, which is normal. Using lots of gentle moisturizer is essential for optimal healing, and it’s important not to pick or peel off dry/flaky skin to avoid irritation. Within 1–2 weeks after a chemical peel, your skin will appear brighter, clearer, and glowing.

The fall, winter, and spring seasons are ideal for chemical peels in Ontario, as refreshed skin is more sensitive to the sun. Peels help shed dead skin and reveal new, healthy skin, which must be protected with sunscreen. Treatments can typically be done once a month, depending on your skin and your provider’s recommendations.

Chemical peels are typically safe for skin types I–IV and can help improve concerns like uneven texture, dullness, hyperpigmentation, acne and fine lines.
